Reasons to spend a ski holiday in Davos and Klosters

Located in the canton of Graubünden (Grisons), Davos and Klosters are globally known as Switzerland’s top ski touring locations. The region offers plenty of skiing options for its visitors, from beginners to those seeking adrenaline rushes, including family-friendly ski lessons, lessons for beginners, backcountry skiing, and ample opportunities to make first tracks.

When in Davos and Klosters, your resort is close by – and that is one of the most important things when picking a destination. From Zurich Airport, it is only 1h40 by car or 2h15 by train. Easy and fast access makes all the difference!

The Davos (or Klosters) ski resort reaches 3,000 meters in altitude, which makes the chances of snowing here higher than most resorts. It is easier to plan your holiday when you know there are more probabilities of snow during the winter season!

A total of six different ski areas are waiting to be discovered: Jakobshorn, Parsenn/Gotschna area, Pischa, Madrisa, Rinerhorn, and Schatzalp/Strela. Parsenn is the largest winter sports area in Davos Klosters, boasting one of the longest runs in Europe.

Did you know that Davos Klosters is one of the best areas for freeriders in the Alps? Here you have the free choice between high alpine to secured routes, which are easily accessible by mountain railways. Look forward to deep snow as far as the eye can see. We recommend to look out for the yellow-marked routes on the piste map. A special highlight, for example, is the 3-track tour. Are you still a beginner? Then we recommend that you first book a freeride guide.

Snowboarding in Davos Klosters

The mountain world of Davos Klosters offers everything a winter sports enthusiast could wish for. It doesn’t matter whether you prefer to snowboard on slopes or love fast descents through untouched snow – snowboarding fun is guaranteed here for all levels.

The winter sports region offers a variety of slopes and trails for snowboarders – whether beginner or professional. Look forward to a total of 300 kilometers of pistes and 80 different secured routes and descents.

A paradise for freestylers in Davos: Jatzpark

At an altitude of around 2,500 meters above sea level, the Jatzpark awaits freestylers of all ages, from beginners to professionals, with a unique range of activities. Thanks to its location and modern snowmaking facilities, you can look forward to snow here throughout the whole winter season. The Jatzpark can be easily reached with the Jakobshorn gondola lift.

Over the past few years, the Jatzpark has developed into one of the top parks in the Swiss Alps. Four lines are available – a combined line with rails and kickers for beginners, a line for advanced snowboarders and a pro kicker line. The highlight of the park and the ultimate adrenaline rush is the big Berta, the largest single kicker in the park.

Incidentally, one of Switzerland’s most famous ski hut, the Jatzhütte, ensures unforgettable moments after snowboarding. Numerous parties such as the full moon party or the Jatzlove festival await you here. If you are looking for relaxation, you can have a good time in the hut’s own whirlpool in the warm water.

I spent 2.5 days mountain biking with Manuel from Ride and Smile in the Davos-Klosters area in late June, 2023. It was a fantastic experience and I highly recommend them. For anyone visiting this area, I strongly recommend hiring a guide as there is so much terrain to explore and hidden trails that only an experienced guide like Manuel knows about. We rode all over the Davos-Klosters area, mostly on single track trails, from mountain top peaks, to high alpine valleys, to stunning gorges. We also visited several, centuries old villages. I also strongly recommend an e-bike as we were able to explore so much more terrain than would be possible with human power alone. I really enjoyed riding with Manuel and he did a great job matching our rides to my ability level and interests.

Jederzeit wieder.

Manuel and the team at Ride and Smile are excellent. I had 3 days of guiding for me and my family this week in Davos with 3 separate guides, for off-piste skiing, touring on skins, and snowshoeing. On one of the trips I lost a ski over a cliff, and our guide Lucas climbed down to find it! Manuel himself provided some excellent tips to improve my ski technique on our second trip, and Paolo gave us excellent information about the surroundings for our snowshoeing. The team's professionalism, expertise, patience and friendliness were a great pleasure - both before our visit (to find ski rentals, resort logistics, help with planning for the weather etc etc), and during the tours themselves. I cannot recommend them highly enough!!
