The Best Mountain Huts in Davos Klosters – by Slope and Skill Level

Where skiers and non-skiers lunch together: The insider guide to Davos Klosters mountain restaurants categorized by ski, gondola, and foot access.

Index

The best hut is the one everyone in your group can reach. In Davos Klosters that comes down to two things: which mountain you are on that day – and whether the way to the hut is a blue run, a red run or a lift ride. Below is our selection on Parsenn, Gotschna, Madrisa and Jakobshorn, sorted by mountain and then by access: no skis first, then blue, then red.

Why choose a hut by slope and skill level?

Because the mountains are separate, and not every hut suits every level. The Davos Klosters areas are ski areas in their own right; only Parsenn and Gotschna are linked by lifts. Lunch on another mountain means a bus ride instead of a terrace, so pick the hut to match the mountain.

Then there is skill. A hut at the end of a red run is the wrong meeting point for beginners; a skiers-only hut doesn’t work for friends who don’t ski. A hut at a lift station works for everyone: some ski down, the others ride the lift, and you all sit at the same table.

You can see where each hut sits on the davos.ch panoramic maps: the north map shows Parsenn, Gotschna and Madrisa, the south map Jakobshorn, Rinerhorn and Pischa.

Parsenn (Davos)

Höhenweg – no skis, or via red

At the middle station of the Parsenn railway, 2,219 m. Without skis, the Parsenn railway takes you up from Davos Dorf in about five minutes. On skis, Höhenweg sits at the end of a red run; if you don’t ski red yet, take the Parsenn railway down from Weissfluhjoch – it stops at the middle station.

Weissfluhjoch & Mountain Diamond – no skis

The mountain restaurant at the Weissfluhjoch top station, 2,663 m, right in the middle of the Parsenn runs. Without skis, ride the Parsenn railway all the way up. There is a self-service restaurant with a big terrace, a Panorama restaurant with table service, and the Joch Mountain Diamond: an all-new building with wide glass fronts and a roof terrace, open since December 2025.

Weissfluhgipfel – no skis

The summit restaurant at 2,844 m, the highest point of the Davos Klosters Mountains, with views as far as the Engadine and the Austrian peaks. With or without skis: Parsenn railway to Weissfluhjoch, then the cable car to the summit.

Parsennhütte – no skis, or via blue

Our top choice for a proper lunch, at 2,200 m and the largest hut in the area: book the à la carte room. On skis via blue run 15 (Totalp). Without skis: Parsenn railway up to Weissfluhjoch, gondola down – there is a Davos–Parsennhütte pedestrian ticket. Allow about an hour.

Mungga Hütta – no skis, or via blue

A small hut at 2,222 m right on the blue Totalp run (run 15). Without skis, travel as you would to the Parsennhütte, then walk about 15 minutes from the Parsennhütte gondola. Drinks and snacks in the sun, plus raclette and fondue.

Iglu-Dorf – for families

Fondue or hot chocolate inside an igloo, in the heart of the Parsenn ski area at 2,570 m, below the Weissfluhjoch station. On skis via the run from Weissfluhjoch. Without skis, it is about 30 minutes on the Parsenn railway up to Weissfluhjoch, then a demanding walk of about 15 minutes – wear sturdy winter boots. Season 2026/27: 26 December 2026 to 4 April 2027. According to Destination Davos Klosters, the Iglu-Dorf is open to day visitors from 11 am to 4 pm and closed Monday to Wednesday.

Restaurant Totalp – skiers only, blue

Our pick for skiers, midway along the blue Totalp run (run 15) above the Totalpsee. When the sun is out the glass roof opens and the place becomes an open-air bar, with a lounger terrace and a grill. Open daily from 8:15 am to 4:15 pm while the Parsenn railway is running. We don’t recommend Totalp for guests without skis – for them, a hut by a lift is the better meeting point.

Gotschna and the Klosters side of Parsenn

Bergrestaurant Gotschnagrat – no skis

At the top station of the Gotschna cable car, 2,285 m: with or without skis, you ride up from Klosters. Summit breakfast in the morning, regional dishes at lunch in the Swiss stone pine room or outside with a panoramic view. A good meeting point when only part of the group skis.

Skihütte Gruobenalp – blue

Right by the blue runs on the Gotschna, at the bottom of the Gruobenalp chairlift, with views over Wolfgang and the Landwasser valley. Without skis: Gotschna cable car up to Gotschnagrat, then the chairlift down (per the lift company).

Erezsäss-Hütte – no skis, or via red

By the Schifer valley station, in a sheltered, sunny spot facing the Casanna. On skis via the red run towards Schifer. Without skis, take the Parsenn railway up to Weissfluhjoch and the Schifer gondola down to Schifer. Crossover cooking à la carte; the hut is also a small mountain hotel.

Alte Schwendi – red

A traditional favourite on the Klosters side: traditional chalet, sun terrace, fondue and raclette. On skis via red run 24. Beginners and non-skiers take the Schifer gondola down to Schifer station. From there it is about 1.2 km on foot, or the restaurant collects you by snowmobile if you call ahead – ask them for the times.

Schiferstall – skiers only, red

A converted barn just above the Schifer valley station, at the end of red runs 22 and 23. The menu has fondue, mountain cheese soup and rösti, and there is a grill bar; inside, a room with an open fire, outside, a sun terrace.

Madrisa (Klosters Dorf)

Madrisa-Hof – no skis, for beginners

On beginner-friendly Madrisa, by the Öpfelsee. Without skis, a short walk from the Madrisa gondola top station; wheelchair accessible, with a large sun terrace. Open daily 9 am to 4:15 pm.

Jakobshorn (Davos Platz)

Jschalp – no skis

At the middle station of the Jakobshorn cable car, 1,931 m: without skis, ride up from Davos Platz to the middle station; on skis, stop here between two runs. Homemade Graubünden specialities, wine from the Bündner Herrschaft and beer from Monstein, plus a sun terrace where a DJ plays on winter Saturdays.

Fuxägufer – no skis, or via blue

At 2,000 m on run 8 – blue, but demanding. Swiss classics and Thai dishes, sun terrace. Without skis, ride the Carjöl chairlift from Bolgen: it goes all the way up and stops right in front of the restaurant.

Chalet Güggel – no skis

A few metres below the Jakobshorn, right next to the top station of the Clavadeler Bubble chairlift – easy to reach on skis. Without skis, take the small Güggel cable car from the Jakobshorn or the winter walking trail. Wind-sheltered terraces and deckchairs with table service; the menu has à la carte dishes, seasonal daily specials and changing vegetarian and vegan menus, plus specialities such as Güggeli (chicken) from the grill, rösti from the giant pan and wood-fired pizza. During the Jakobshorn winter season, daily from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Jatzhütte – no skis, or via blue; après-ski

At over 2,500 m, the après-ski spot on the Jakobshorn, with DJs, live music and a hot tub. On skis via a blue run; without skis, it is about a 20-minute walk from the Jakobshorn top station.

Naturfreundehaus – blue

The Berggasthaus Naturfreunde on the Clavadeler Alp: a quiet house in the forest with simple, regional food. On skis via the blue Gämpen run to the valley; on foot in about 45 minutes on the winter path from Clavadel.

With an instructor to the hut

If your group skis at different levels, a private instructor plans the route: the beginner takes the blue option, the others the red, and everyone arrives together. We have a good relationship with the huts and help you get in touch and make a reservation – we cannot promise you a table.
