In our private snowboard lessons for kids, the spotlight is entirely on your child – their pace, style, and goals. We believe that children progress best when they feel safe and encouraged, never pressured. With positive reinforcement, every success boosts confidence and helps your child develop their own riding style – adapted to their abilities and natural limits.

Our snowboard instructors keep sessions playful and dynamic, with no drills on repeat and no stress. Instead, we mix games, short inputs, and plenty of riding time to ensure kids stay motivated, curious, and smiling all day.

How we teach kids to snowboard

Snowboarding is about flow and feeling. That’s why we keep instructions short and simple, followed by plenty of practice. We blend playful balance drills, easy challenges, and one-to-one feedback. When useful, we include short video clips right on the slope. Comfort, safety, and fun always come first.

Finding balance, gliding straight, and safe stopping

Linking turns smoothly with rhythm and control

What to Expect in a Private Kids’ Snowboard Lesson

Initial advice & area choice – We set the goals for the day based on your child’s level, the snow, and the weather. The meeting point will be arranged in the most suitable area – Madrisa (Klosters), Jakobshorn, Rinerhorn, Parsenn, Pischa, or Bolgen/Bünda (Davos).

Equipment & rental – On request, we organise snowboard, boots, helmet (and recommend wrist guards) and make sure everything fits comfortably.

Kick-off & warm-up – We begin with balance games and gentle gliding exercises to get kids comfortable on the board. A short technique check helps us fine-tune slope choice and activities.

Learning through play & encouragement – Kids receive short, clear instructions and lots of practice time. Step by step, they learn sideslips, first turns, and linking movements – always with positive feedback. Playful drills and easy-to-grasp demonstrations keep them motivated. Short video clips can be included if desired.

Lunch break – We can pre-book a cosy, family-friendly hut or panorama restaurant along the route, so there’s time to rest and recharge.

Wrapping up the day – The day ends with a few fun runs where your child shows what they’ve learned. The instructor gives a short summary and practical tips for the next snowboard days – always encouraging and positive.

FAQ – Quick & Helpful

From what age can kids start snowboarding?
Usually from around 6 years, depending on coordination and motivation. We make the start playful and fun.
Do we need our own gear?
No. We’ll recommend a sports shop and arrange rental (board, boots, helmet, wrist guards recommended).
How long is a lesson?
Typically 3 hours (half day) or 6 hours (full day). Duration and intensity are adapted to your child.
Which languages do you teach in?
Subject to availability: German, English, Portuguese, Italian, French, Spanish, Russian, Dutch.
Where do we meet?
Flexible: hotel, base station, or directly on the mountain. We advise the best spot each day.
Can siblings or friends join?
Yes, if they have a similar level. We recommend max. 4–6 kids per instructor.
What about bad weather?
Safety first: we adjust terrain and timing. Even on cloudy or snowy days, kids enjoy a fun and safe lesson.
What should children bring?
Warm, waterproof clothing (layered), gloves, goggles, helmet, sunscreen/lip balm, plus a small snack and drink.

There wasn't much snow this season, yet Manuel managed to find hidden pockets of untouched snow with gorgeous views of the Alps.  He was very patient with me and taught me how to use telemark skis with skins.  Manuel even met me at the rental store to make sure I got the appropriate skis. I thoroughly enjoyed my day skiing with Manuel.  It was relaxing and challenging at the same time.  I hope to return and book more adventures with Ride and Smile.

As a family of 4 from Boston (2 parents and 2 boys of 12 and 15) we decided to visit Switzerland and learn snowboarding for the first time. We came across Ride and Smile online as a highly rated school. We were partnered with Massimo, an instructor who was super excited to take on the challenge of instructing an entire family of mixed ages, different levels of stamina and ultimately varying levels of natural talent. He greeted us each day with a huge smile and a group hug. We started with the basics, adapting his teaching approach to each of us based on our individual needs. Some of the family advanced quicker, but he really wanted to bring us all along for the ride and was extremely patient. He kept encouraging the slower progressing amongst the group to keep trying, emphasizing that it takes time to master the basics and that once it clicks it will feel amazing. By the fourth day my eldest son was cruising down a red slope like a pro - he will undoubtedly be a snowboarder for life. What made this experience so special was Massimo and his teaching style. From the time I expressed interest in booking until after I finished my day skiing when I received photos and videos from my adventure, they were very responsive and attentive. I was able to speak with my guide, Manuel, before booking to make sure my expectations would be met. I'm happy to report that the actual experience exceeded them.  Verified Everything we hoped for and more! We signed up our two girls (ages 4 and 6) for classes over 4 days. Given their traumatic ski experience the year before, and the fact that they kept saying "I hate skiing, I don't wanna ski", we were seriously concerned whether they would make it even half-way the classes. Well we were so lucky to have Luna as our instructor! She had such a child-friendly approach, she connected with them and was so motivating and supportive! I must admit that at first I didn't think I would be able to go on the red and blue slopes, because I had never skied before.All my lessons were with teacher Simone, he was really nice to me, he managed to do exercises that suited my learning style, his positivity was really contagious and seeing that he was happy with my achievements made me want to learn more and more.On the last day of my lessons, I was already able to go on the red slopes with some ease.
